From a Southbourne resident
As a Southbourne resident, I was delighted to be involved as a sponsor to the Shake and Stir event through one of my companies.
I have seen it grow into a hugely popular local event that brings out all of the family, from the youngest to the oldest generation. Drawing crowds from further afield, the festival is also important for the local businesses who in turn work very hard in ensuring everyone has a great day.
A letter to the editor of The Echo
I wish to express publicly a very big thank you to the managing team and all volunteers who organised the recent Shake & Stir vintage musical festival in Southbourne. What an amazing show for the local community to enjoy and be involved with. Run by volunteers on a non- profit basis to provide exposure for Southbourne business and community. It has grown into an exceptional show case for local bands, business and services.
The chair and all who contributed to this 3 day festival must be congratulated. Whether it was the music and dancing in the closed high street or the same in Fisherman’s Walk it represented a superb programme. The use of Fisherman’s Walk as it was intended illustrates how this outstanding glade with its bandstand provides the perfect setting for such a festival.
Well done Southbourne, you rock!
The Barista Bike is a Southbourne based business that has traded at The Original Shake and Stir festival for the past two years. Shake and Stir is a great family friendly festival, packed with a variety of quality food and craft stalls with entertainment suitable for all generations. It is without doubt the best festival we trade at, professionally organised and promoted, with a friendly, community spirit where everyone is there to have fun. Being able to trade at the festival has been a great opportunity for a small, independent, local business like us. The only downside, unfortunately it only takes place once a year.
Pizza with love
Shake and Stir is our absolute favourite event to trade at. We have been bringing our Wood fired pizza van for the last 2-3 years and not only is it very profitable for our business but such great fun! We have lots of family and friends that attend who equally love it. It's such a well.organised event and the organisers blow my mind with their dedication and hard work. The music is incredible and we've been lucky enough to be opposite the stage each year so we get to enjoy the very talented singers and dancers. We attend a lot of festivals etc but this one is our absolute favourite!!
Vicky Baggette, Homeline Mortgages
2017 was our first foray into the Southbourne Shake & Stir Vintage Festival, and we enjoyed every minute of it! As a local company providing independent mortgage and protection services, we have many clients in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Southbourne areas, so becoming a sponsor was a great way to reach out to these communities and raise the profile of our brand. Our PR consultant had told us all about the event and how wonderful it was, but we truly didn’t envisage just how good it would be. The footfall was amazing, and the atmosphere unlike any other event we have been involved in. Families and different generations really getting into the swing of things (literally) – and throughout the whole festival we just saw people enjoying themselves and soaking up the vibe. We got to chat to lots of prospective clients, and with no intention of a hard sell, we were able to raise awareness about what we can offer to home buyers, and our friendly approach. Shake and Stir managed to be a successful and professional event, yet retain the charm and character of a local occasion. Quirky, unique and fun for all… a best day out! I’m sure we’ll be back.
The shake and stir event is a much loved, awaited for event each year. The atmosphere is fantastic with great live music and dancing. Everyone is having a good time. There are many individual gifts to purchase from unique local stall holders. As a small local food producer it is a great opportunity for me to showcase my products whilst enjoying a great day of entertainment. Definitely a great weekend in Dorset's social calendar.
